On the surface, local marketing seems pretty straight forward. You know who your customer is and the geographical area to find them. Maybe you’re a dentist in Chandler or you specialize in carpet cleaning in Glendale. So you know where your customers are, but how can you make sure you’re business is in front of them when they need you the most?
In the past, the answer would be the yellow pages and maybe some direct mail with a coupon. You could build a business with just those marketing methods and do quite well. I’m sorry to say those days are long gone. Today, you need to have a strong internet presence and one of the absolute best ways to connect with your customers is through video.
It might seem complicated, but making and distributing your video can definitely be worth the learning curve. Not only are your competitors not doing it, but it allows you to speak directly to your customers with the message you want them to hear.
The process itself can really be simplified if you don’t have a lot of experience. Remember, just take action! Your video doesn’t have to be perfect and you can always go back and make another one in the future once you have a little more experience. For a quick and easy start, just have a co-worker take a quick video of you in the workplace delivering a message you would like a potential customer to hear. Then upload it to Youtube and write a short description of the video’s content. Don’t forget to put a link back to your website in the description box.
Now you have a video on Youtube. From here, just share it on Facebook, Twitter and your other social media accounts. You can also upload to other video sites like Vimeo, but Youtube gets the most traffic and is favored by Google. Also, have your employees share it on their social media accounts too. Don’t expect the floodgates to open with new business, but with a little patience you can definitely use video to find new customers without having to spend a ton of money on marketing.
